National Vietnam War Veterans Day

Dear Commemorative Partners,

Every service member of the Vietnam generation should know that

their sacrifices mattered and that their service made a difference.

These are the words of U.S. President, Joseph R. Biden, Jr., penned in the

Presidential Proclamation signed just one day before National Vietnam

War Veterans Day (NVWVD) last year. As we close out February—in

honor of Black History Month—and prepare for NVWVD, it seems fitting

to reveal the announcement from The White House earlier this month,

conveying President Biden’s upcoming Medal of Honor presentation to

African American Vietnam veteran, retired U.S. Army Colonel Paris D.

Davis. This award, our nation’s highest military honor, will be conferred to

Davis for his gallant actions rescuing his wounded troops following an

attack on June 18, 1965. Stay tuned as the ceremony date and other

important information becomes available!

Looking ahead, NVWVD is just 29 days away! Nearly 600 Commemorative Partner events are already

scheduled on or around March 29, with more coming in daily! If you are looking for materials to use for

your event, download our brand new poster, shown above. You can visit our 29 March Posters page to

access this and other inspirational posters in a variety of resolutions. We also have a new promotional

video and resources such as our NVWVD fact sheet, speech templates, and other digital resources. In

addition, if you have not yet ordered your lapel pins, and other materials, there is still time! Order now

through our Partner Portal to receive them for this special day.

We encourage you to promote Welcome Home! A Nation Honors our

Vietnam Veterans and Their Families at your NVWVD observances.

Also, if you are unable to attend in person May 11-13 in our Nation’s

capital, feel free to host concurrent events in your hometowns to recognize

these veterans and their families. A new video, Media Kit and other

resources are now available via our new Welcome

Home! Resources page.

Finally, the submission deadline of your close-up Vietnam veteran period photos has been

extended! Submit your photo (one per Vietnam veteran) with at least 300 dpi resolution,

the veteran’s name, Service Branch and years served (sample shown at right) to us at

[email protected] by April 15. We will proudly be playing the video montage

created from these photos during Welcome Home!
